Trim stems to the playhead

Cut the count-in, the silence, or the long tail off a stem right on the timeline — without ever touching the original file. The cue types panel has been redesigned to be easier to read at a glance.

Added

  • Cut start and Cut end on every stem — park the playhead where the music should begin or end, and everything outside it drops away
  • Cutting the start pulls what's left back to 00:00, so the part you kept begins the track
  • A restore button appears on any trimmed stem and brings the full audio back — trims are non-destructive, so your source files are never modified
  • The timeline, snapping, and track length all follow the trimmed region, so a trimmed stem behaves like a shorter one

Improved

  • Redesigned cue types panel — slot numbers read as key caps, action types as coloured badges, and the marker links are easier to scan
  • Applying a preset now asks for confirmation before it replaces the cue types already on a track

Rename tracks, more file types, and steadier playback

Rename tracks, play M4A/AAC files (even ones saved as .mp3), and enjoy a timeline that stays locked to playback — the view now scrolls under a centred playhead and stops on its own at the end of the track.

  • Rename a track — double-click it in the sidebar, or right-click and choose Rename
  • Play M4A/AAC audio, including files saved with a .mp3 extension
  • Playback now stops automatically when it reaches the end of the last stem

Improved

  • Playhead follow scrolls the timeline continuously with the playhead held in the centre, instead of jumping a page at a time
  • The Markers list pins the current marker to the top as playback moves through it, keeping the upcoming markers in view
  • Zoomed all the way out, the whole track fits the view and stays fitted as you resize the window

Fixed

  • Waveforms and the playhead now line up for files whose sample rate differs from your output device (for example 44.1 kHz files on a 48 kHz device) — the playhead no longer runs past the end of the track and behind the markers panel

Smoother timeline and trackpad navigation

A big update to how the timeline moves and how playback feels: native trackpad gestures, a view that keeps up with playback, and a smoother, lower-latency engine.

  • Pinch to zoom the timeline, anchored under your cursor
  • Two-finger scrolling: swipe sideways to move through time, up and down to scroll between stem lanes
  • Playhead follow — the view keeps pace with playback and flips to the next page automatically (toggle it in the timeline header)
  • Press Shift + Z, or double-click the minimap, to fit the whole track in view
  • Drag a stem or marker to the edge and the timeline scrolls along with you
