Summary
QTracks is a free desktop app. We collect as little personal data as possible, we don't sell or share what we do collect, our website analytics is cookieless and anonymous, and the one thing we do ask for — your email when you download — we use only to tell you about new versions and to honour your free-forever licence.
1. The QTracks website (qtracks.app)
Analytics. This website uses Umami (operated by Umami Software, Inc., hosted at cloud.umami.is) to collect aggregated traffic statistics. Each pageview produces a single record containing: the page path, the referring page (if any), the visitor's country and rough region (derived from IP at the edge and then discarded), the browser family and operating system, and the screen size. Umami does not set cookies, does not store IP addresses, and does not generate any persistent identifier that could be used to recognise the same visitor across visits or across sites. Because no personal data in the sense of the FADP / GDPR is processed and no cookies are set, no consent banner is required under EU or Swiss law.
Hosting. The site is served from Vercel's CDN (Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA). Vercel processes your IP address transiently to deliver the request and to mitigate abuse; it does not pass an identifiable IP to us.
No advertising or third-party trackers. We do not run advertising on this site, do not share data with ad networks, and do not embed third-party social, chat, or tracking scripts beyond Umami and Vercel's own request handling.
2. The QTracks desktop app
The desktop app keeps your projects on your computer, in the standard application-data folder for your operating system. It does not phone home and does not send project content to us.
Updates. When enabled, QTracks periodically checks our signed release channel at qtracks.appfor a new build. The request shares only what any file download reveals — effectively your IP address and your operating system — and nothing about your projects or usage. You can disable update checks in Settings at any time.
3. Email at download
When you download QTracks we ask for your email address. Along with it we store which version and platform you downloaded and the time of the download. We keep this for two reasons, and only these two:
- New versions. So we can let you know when a new release of QTracks is available. The download itself happens entirely in your browser — submitting your email does not trigger any email, and there is no confirmation or marketing message.
- Your free-forever licence.QTracks is free today. Your email is how we record that you are an existing user, so that if a paid edition ever arrives, you keep a licence to the app you already have at no charge — for good, including future major versions. You never get charged retroactively.
We don't run advertising, we don't sell or rent your email, and we don't share it with third parties for their own use. You can ask us to delete it at any time (see your rights below), and any message we ever send you will include a one-click unsubscribe. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in maintaining the app and our user base (Art. 31 FADP; Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We also reply to messages you send us first — support questions, privacy requests, and the like. Write to contact@qtracks.app any time.
4. Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU GDPR, you can ask us to: confirm what personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it (subject to legal retention requirements for invoices), restrict our processing of it, or receive a portable copy. Write to contact@qtracks.app.
5. Data controller
The data controller for personal data processed in connection with QTracks is Leys Services, a Swiss sole proprietorship of Levyn Schneider, Neumattstrasse 26, 3127 Mühlethurnen, Switzerland, operating the QTracks brand. For data-protection questions, write to contact@qtracks.app.
6. Changes to this policy
We post material changes here at least 14 days before they take effect. Cosmetic changes are published without notice.
